Organization of Library Activities and Information within the Smart Society and Smart Management. Assoc. Prof. Dr. R. Varnienė-Janssen. 2017 – 2020.

The research aims to define: efficient management of the libraries and services organization from the view point of reducing of social exclusion and aims to investigate international, interinstitutional and inter-sectoral cooperation from the point of innovative services in the context of strengthening knowledge and intellectual potential.

Results:

Qualitative analysis of scientific literature as well as the specification of Lithuania’s Information System of the Virtual Electronic Heritage (VEPIS) and its services allowed to establish a model for provenance related added value of VEPIS. It also enabled to identify functions of provenance in the digital environment. Research results were presented at the international conference.

Defined the scope of the content of authenticity and provenance, identifying the dimensions necessary for the support core preservation functions and ensure interoperability – the ability to exchange data amongst institutions and it was estimated  the added value of Europeana and VEPIS regarding the authenticity and provenance based on the adequacy of analysed metadata dictionaries, specifications or models. Research results were presented at the international conference.

Vilnius University academics, researchers and doctoral students were surveyed, using survey instrument, prepared by international group of researchers on information literacy. The aim of the research was to analyse state of art on data literacy and research data management skills and experience at Vilnius University. Research results were presented at the international conference ECIL2017 in Saint Malo, France.

We created the questionnaire for developing an understanding on secondary school teachers’ knowledge on information literacy and practices implemented in developing student’s information literacy skills (acronym – KILS). This tool consists of 26 items grouped into three categories. We tested the validation and reliability of the measuring instrument, the questionnaire. The sample tested was n = 102 of the Lithuanian elite secondary school teacher population. Authors conclude that the questionnaire is suitable for a full-scale survey.
