In aiming to protect ourselves properly from the spreading of the virus and in view that at present the University has been organizing the studies in the electronic environment, there is no possibility to enter Vilnius University Library and borrow printed items. We will constantly update information about the present situation on the Library’s website and Facebook account.
During the period, we invite all members of academic community to use the Library’s electronic resources and collections. All of them are accessible from your home computer; databases can be accessed after setting up VPN service of VU. You can search for all Library’s resources through the virtual library at https://virtualibiblioteka.vu.lt/ or use databases that are listed in the section of your faculty’s/centre’s librarian.
Please, contact your subject librarian for a consultation on what electronic resources can be used to replace printed materials. We kindly ask to share this information with students especially with those to whom this information is relevant and who are preparing their final papers.
If heritage sources (manuscripts, rare books) of the Library are absolutely necessary for you, please contact librarians working in the following divisions: Rare Books Division, Manuscripts Division. After seeing the needs, the Library will look for the possibilities to digitize documents or their parts without which it might be impossible to complete final papers or research publications. We kindly encourage you to search for heritage documents in the Digital Collections of the Library, in national and international databases of heritage documents.
During the period, subject librarians will share with you information on electronic resources that are relevant to your research fields.
