CEO of the printing house "Petro offsetas" / Publishing
Why did you choose to study publishing?
I grew up with books and the process of book production since I was a teenager, so it was important to have not only a practical but also a theoretical background, to gain more knowledge in this field.
What was your year of study? Tell us your most vivid memories from your studies.
The years I spent at Vilnius University were valuable. Comprehensive life lessons: theoretical, practical, social aspects. Great people with whom we spent many years working, creating, studying together, broadened our horizons and taught us a lot.
How has the knowledge you gained at Vilnius University's Faculty of Communication helped you in your work?
The knowledge I gained at the Faculty of Communication is a lifesaver for me every day, but it is complemented by my values, my work practice and my personality. Knowledge alone will not help you in life, it has to be a seamless, complete combination.
What does your working day look like? What skills do you need in your job?
My working day is erratic, although I start work early, the day itself likes to adjust its rhythm. I spend most of my time interacting with my team or clients, that's my job title. We coordinate projects, consult, and find win-win solutions in terms of quality and price. In real terms, I have to organise the smooth cooperation between sales and production.
My skills are absolutely useful: from teamwork to independent critical evaluation.
What kind of people would you recommend a publishing degree programme to?
People who love or at least enjoy books and the printing industry. Creativity is inherent. It's a very broad industry, so you need a wide variety of people.
